All mixed up

A few years back, as some of you know, I finally bit the bullet and combined my singing and writing under one name at margaretfelice.com. I was really nervous about mixing my two loves, music and spirituality, thought they had already successfully joined together in my heart a long time ago. Finally I worked up the nerve to ask Dorian to work with me on a web design that would integrate my blog and my performance information in one place.

In the last year I felt like that design needed a refresh, and Dorian recommended Ashley at Little Leaf Design, who has been marvelous. My one concern, however, was that almost all of the other websites she showed me as sample work had tag lines. This, of course, threw me into a tizzy about having to come up with a tagline for my website.

Are you there God, it’s me Margaret? Taken, and a little silly. My six word memoir, A Big Personality Seeking Something Bigger? Too easy to misinterpret. Something from Scripture or poetry? Would I look like I was trying too hard? Cue the sleepless nights.

And then Ashley came back with a header that simply said Writer, Singer, Speaker.

Well.

So here I am again, with a new design and logo, still violating the cardinal rule of “branding” by mixing all my interests together in one place and asking people to join me.

The truth is, agonizing over branding has never been a good use of my time. So I hope you’ll forgive me for lack of clarity in my brand while I get back to work: writing, singing, speaking, still all mixed up.

XO,

Margaret
